पापमेवाश्रयेदस्मान् हत्वैतानाततायिनः ॥ तस्मान्नार्हा वयं हन्तुं धार्तराष्ट्रान्स्वबान्धवान् । स्वजनं हि कथं हत्वा सुखिनः स्याम माधव ॥
pāpam evāśrayed asmān hatvaitān ātatāyinaḥ || tasmān nārhā vayaṁ hantuṁ dhārtarāṣṭrān svabandhavān | svajanaṁ hi kathaṁ hatvā sukhinaḥ syāma mādhava || 36 ||
Sin alone will hold us fast, after killing these felons58 (usurpers though they be). Therefore, it will not befit us to kill our own kinsmen, the sons of Dhrtarāstra; for, surely, after killing our own kinsfolk, how can we be happy, O Mādhava ?
