अर्जुन उवाच कथं भीष्ममहं सङ्ख्ये द्रोणं च मधुसूदन । इषुभिः प्रतियोत्स्यामि पूजार्हावरिसूदन ॥ गुरूनहत्वा हि महानुभावा-ञ्छ्रेयो भोक्तुं भैक्ष्यमपीह लोके । हत्वार्थकामांस्तु गुरूनिहैव भुंजीय भोगान् रुधिरप्रदिग्धान् ॥
Transliteration
arjuna uvaca katham bhismam aham sankhye dronam ca madhusudana isubhih pratiyotsyami pujarhav ari-sudana gurun ahatva hi mahanubhavan sreyo bhoktum bhaiksyam apiha loke hatvartha-kamams tu gurun ihaiva bhunjiya bhogan rudhira-pradigdhan
Translation
Arjuna said:
O Madhusudan(Shri Krishna)! How shall I counter attack arrows of warriors like Bhisma and Drona on the battle field? Both of them are worthy of my worship.
It is better to live in this world by begging than to live instead of killing these noble teachers. But after killing these elders[in the opponent army] who are desiring wealth and materistic gains, definitely in this world we will enjoy only blood contaminated pleasures.
Purport
Thinking about the consequences of war, Ajuna got deeply confused about his duties. He felt unable to decide what is wrong and what is right. He got extremely sad and distress. In such situation he finally surrenders unto Supreme personality of Godhead, Bhagvan Shri Krishna.
