Translation

Attachment and aversion for sense objects abide in the sense-organs; let none come under their sway; for they are one’s foes.

Purport

This is one of the facts which we should all understand that having the attractions or repulsion for the material objects is not an alien phenomena, but is very much part of the material existence. This is the very nature of senses to get attracted to some material objects and have repulsion with some other. This is very obvious and part of the material phenomena of this material world.

But difference appears how a human reacts to that. A yogi is never driven away by the impulse of such desires but uses his intelligence to take judge good and bad. He keeps his senses under his control. On the other hand, some other people go with the impulse of desires, he becomes a slave of his sensual desires. He fulfills his desires without thinking about the merits or demerits of the same. Such people are hence get lost in the wave of sensual lusts and desires

Sensual pleasures and material desires are the stumbling blocks in the path of self-realization. A person who wants to achieve the highest state of self-realization should not fall under the control of senses but take control over.
