Translation

Actions do not taint Me, nor do I have a desire for the fruits of actions. One who understands Me thus, is not entangled in the fruitive reactions of work. All the liberated souls in ancient times acted with this understanding and so attained liberation. Therefore, as the ancients, you should perform your duty in this divine consciousness.

Purport

In these two Shlokas, Bhagvan Shri Krishna explains how to perform Nishkam Karma which leads to liberation.

As we know in chapter 3(Sh#22) Bhagvan Shri Krishna has explained though there is nothing in this world to do for him(Shri Krishna), everything is available on his disposal, yet he incarnates and indulges into actions.

But though doing all actions he is still not tainted with Karma and remains free. The reason for that is he does not expect anything from his actions but does those actions cause they need to be done.
Leaving the desires from fruits makes the doer being free from any bounds of actions. Such a person remains unattached with this material world and liberates from the cycle of birth of death after this life.
Further, Bhagvan Shri Krishna put examples that many Moksha seeker in the past has already achieved liberation by doing actions using this principle. Hence Arjuna should follow this noble principle by doing his natural duty without seeking anything in return. This way he(Arjuna) too would be liberated.
