Translation

Therefore, with the sword of knowledge, cut asunder this doubt present in your heart, arising from ignorance. Armed with Yoga [the surrender unto God], O Bharata (Arjuna), Arise and perform your duty [of soldier to fight].

Purport

Explaining the fact of karma yoga and Jnana(Knowledge) Bhagvan Shri Krishna then instructs Arjuna to remove all the confusion and stand up to perform his duty, that is that to fight like a true soldier.

This is to be noted the very conversation between Arjuna and Bhagvan Shri Krishna started when Arjuna developed confusion about the war. Such confusion has arisen due to various wrong perceptions about life, existence, and circumstances. Bhagvan Shri Krishna then explained in detail the truth about human life and soul, the duty and the renunciation of fruits of actions. When a person performs his natural duty renouncing the desires from fruits and surrendering all his actions to God, he gets free from bonds of Karma and attains liberation. Therefore one should perform his duty, as doing so is benevolent for self as well as for others.
