Translation

Ignorant, not the learned, speak of Sankhya (Sankhya Yoga) and Yoga (Karma Yoga) as distinct;one who is firmly established in either, attains the fruit of both. That state which is attained by the Sankhyans [Sankhya Yogis], is also attained by the Yogins, [Karma Yogis]. He alone is wise who sees that the Sankhya and theYoga are really one.

Purport

These two shlokas are the part of answers given by Bhagvan Shri Krishna to the query made by Arjuna about Sanyas and Karma Yoga.

In earlier Shloka Bhagvan Shri Krishna said that any human who performs Karma Yoga, i.e performs his prescribed duty with devotion towards God and leaving all the attachment with the fruits of action already practices Sanyas.

In these two Shlokas, Bhagvan Shri Krishna further explains that the result of the two paths is the same. Any Human who starts either from Sanyas or Karma Yoga finally reaches to the same destination. Rather both paths, in essence, are the same. No Sanyas can be performed without performing actions with purity and no Karma yoga can be performed without renouncing the fruits of actions. So Sanyas by default includes Karma Yoga and karma yoga by default includes Sanyas(renunciation).

Sanyas and Karma Yoga appear different externally and not in their essence. Considering them different is due to the lack of subtle knowledge.

Also to be noted that these two Shlokas use the word Sankhya to define the state of renunciation. That also defines the Sankhya yoga as the path of renunciation. Many people in the past have expressed their confusion about Sankhya yoga. That confusion can be removed by referring above Shlokas.
