स निश्चयेन योक्तव्यो योगोऽनिर्विण्णचेतसा ॥
सङ्कशल्पप्रभवान्कामांस्त्यक्त्वा सर्वानशेषतः ।
मनसैवेन्द्रियग्रामं विनियम्य समन्ततः ॥
Transliteration
sa niścayena yoktavyo yogo ‘nirviṇṇa cetasā || 23 ||
saṅkalpa prabhavān kāmāṃs-tyaktvā sarvān-aśeṣaaḥ |
manasaivendriya-grāmaṃ viniyamya samantataḥ || 24 ||
Translation
This Yoga must be practiced with determination and with a mind free from despondency, renouncing without reserve, all desires born of imagination (sankalpa) and completely restraining the whole group of senses by the mind from all directions;

In earlier Shloka, the supreme state of Ashtanga yoga, the Samadhi was explained. In this shloka, the factors which are required to practice Yoga are explained. Bhagvan Shri Krishna points out that the practice of Yoga may not be an easy task. One needs a lot of determination and self-control to achieve perfection in Yoga.
