Ch 06 : Sh 33-34

अर्जुन उवाच
योऽयं योगस्त्वया प्रोक्तः साम्येन मधुसूदन ।
एतस्याहं न पश्यामि चञ्चलत्वात्स्थितिं स्थिराम्‌ ॥
चञ्चलं हि मनः कृष्ण प्रमाथि बलवद्दृढम्‌ ।
तस्याहं निग्रहं मन्ये वायोरिव सुदुष्करम्‌ ॥

Transliteration

yo’yaṃ yogas-tvayā proktaḥ sāmyena madhusūdhana |
etasyāhaṃ na paśyāmi cañcalatvāt sthitiṃ sthirām || 33 ||
cañcalaṃ hi manaḥ kṛṣṇa pramāthi balavad-dṛḍham |
tasyāhaṃ nigrahaṃ manye vāyoriva suduṣkaram || 34 ||

Translation

This Yoga of equanimity, which has been taught by You, O Krishna, I can not imagine it's steady continuance, because of the restlessness of the mind. For the mind is fickle, O Krishna, turbulent, powerful and stubborn. I deem it as difficult to control the wind.

Purport

In earlier many Shlokas Bhagvan Shri Krishna explained the glory of Raj Yoga(Pranayama and meditation) and explained the method to achieve perfection.

But listening to the description, Arjuna realized that the methods described to achieve perfection in Yoga are indeed difficult, particularly when the mind is so volatile that got disturbed by even small of thoughts or desires. In above Shloka Arjuna expressed his honest view to Bhagvan Shri Krishna, saying that the Yoga hence described by the Supreme Lord appears difficult to achieve and yet difficult to maintain. Giving example Aruna expressed doubts that the mind is as difficult to control as the wind. How then one can achieve perfection in Yoga?
