The Yogi is considered to be superior to the ascetics, superior to the intellectuals, and even superior to the ritualists; therefore, O Arjuna, become a Yogi.

Purport

We all know that there are different paths to achieve liberation. People of different orientation select one path which is best suited to them. But one may still ask which of that path is better and which of those people are better?
The above Shloka provides the exact answer to the question. Without any mixing words, Bhagvan Shri Krishna declared that Yogi is superior to all others, that is Intellectual(Jnani), Ascetic and ritualistic.
Those who may have confusion about these terminologies may find following descriptions

1. Ascetic:
Those who follow the path of Tapasya that is renunciation are called as ascetic or Sanayasi. The path of Tapasya requires a rigorous practice of self-control and renouncing worldly materials and desires forcefully. This path is very effective but difficult.

2. Intellectual(Jnani):
This is the path of education and attaining knowledge. Those who follow this path acquire the knowledge through study of scriptures, learning from Gurus or self-realization. This path though is very purifying for the soul but is difficult to achieve.

3. Ritualistic(KarmaYogi):
This is the path of performing rituals, prayers, worship, Yajna, etc. This path is easier to practice and that is why most of the people in society come under this category. But rituals without pure Karma, true devotion does not bring fruits easily. There is no wonder many people in society complain their prayers are not working.

4. Yogi(The devotee of God):
The very word Yoga means to attach, to attach the soul to God. The very first thing Yogi does is to devote himself completely to God and then follow whatever comfortable method to achieve perfection. Due to his devotion to God, all other paths become easier for him.

Hence compared to all others a true devotee, a true Yogi is superior to all.
